She is not a new name for any proud Nepali in and out of the country. A Miss Nepal 2013 contestant, a national volleyball player and recently kicking off her career as an actor in Nepali feature film; she has bagged it all under her account! There was a quote in the spider man movie which quotes,” With great power comes great responsibility.”
She is not a new name for any proud Nepali in and out of the country. A Miss Nepal 2013 contestant, a national volleyball player and recently kicking off her career as an actor in Nepali feature film; she has bagged it all under her account! There was a quote in the spider man movie which quotes,” With great power comes great responsibility.” Though she ain’t no spider (wo)man or so but there are very few people who have reached the heights she has and now wants to give back to the society.
Now, she is here to make a difference to hundreds and thousands of orphaned children in the state and the country. She has initiated a step towards humanity and is coming up with a charity event for orphans, by the name of Maya-let’s start giving. So we took a moment with her to know more about this event.
Why a charity event? What is Maya?
It’s basically a charity event. I know there are lots of charity events going on around here but what I personally feel is that, those charity events have not been actually doing anything a charity is about. By initiating this event, I want to shake humanity in the youngster as well as all generations of people to stand up and do something for the society that has given so much to us. We are the privileged ones. There are so many children who were born losing…losing parents, losing a better opportunity and a lot more. So I wanted to present Maya-let’s start giving, a charity event for orphans.
Maya, in simple Nepali language stands for “Love”. This word, Maya, is simple but the meaning is as deep as we can get into. So, I basically feel that this word has been misused a lot by the people. So I chose this name for the event, as it’s my own small effort towards bringing about change.
What can we expect in this evening? Is it a dance party?
A big no! It isn’t a dance party. It is in its simple form a musical evening. There are a series of artists who we joined hands with for this event. Names like Shiva Pariyar and Hem Lama & The Connections are playing their music for the evening. Like wise, there is Dj Salim, who will be Dj-ing in the venue for entertainment, a lil’ dance and all after the main event.
The event is on Feb 14, a co-incidence or a thought of plan?
It is a well thought of plan! February 14 or better known as Valentine’s Day, the day we celebrate love all across the globe. We all deserved to be loved, so does these children. Loving someone gives us empowerment, so yes I wanted this particular date for this event and what better way to celebrate love with good music and for a better cause.
Are there any organizations that you are helping directly from this event?
There is an organization, by the name of Love Home, but we want to reach out to a mass of people who needs a helping hand. So yes, if there are people who knows some other organizations or needy people that are in need of genuine help, we are ready to make a donation for such from whatever we make out of this event.
Lastly, I want to thank our event management group, Zero61 Entertainment, for coming out and helping me out for this event. I want to present my thank here for all the Pokhreli for supporting me and hope that you all will come together for this cause I’ve just merely started and make it huge and successful.
