Natural and Ethical Farming in the Himalayas

I have been thinking for a while of investing in natural and ethical farming in Nepal. I love animals and I have high moral standards. I believe it is wrong what we are doing from a natural, ethical and health point of view.

Look at how our vegetables are grown. Even those that are called natural and organic, they are pouring high amounts of chemicals in the food which is just like pumping steroids in the human body. Of course it does make them big but not healthy. Insecticide and Fertilizers is used widely in vegetables production.

Another thing I find disgusting is the way animals are treated. Have you visited a buffalo farm. Buffaloes are artificially impregnated to make them bear babies. That is so hard for their body and it shortens their life expectancy. Babies are not cared and left to die in the cold. The buffaloes are not suitable for this climate and fed with stored food. Further more they are provided with medicines and anti-biotic to enhance milk production. Such milk is not healthy in any way. The animals are confined but their entire lives. It is the same with poultry. Chickens are packed in small areas for the rest of their lives. They are fed nothing but high protein foods which increase their mass but fails to provide them with all necessary ingredients needed for healthy development of body. As a result their bones are weaker and their immunity is less. To counter that they are given high level of antibiotics which make them even more resistant to medicines. Because they are not allowed to live in natural climate their resistance to nature becomes weak. In the long run it makes them susceptible to diseases and nature.

So I just thought about it for long. Is it right what we are doing. Are we so focused on saving money and enhancing productivity that we are neglecting the concept of quality. Where is quality? Would you call such food healthy? If not then should we not be growing healthy food?

So I have been thinking about starting a commercial project that sells natural and ethical farm foods to people who desire such foods. Obviously prices will be higher but we want to control high prices by focusing on better management principles, labor and capital productivity. We will be opening retail centers in various cities and distributing our farm products through them.

Anyone interested in this project please leave us your comment.
