Fuel shortage and black marketing

We have been having tremendous fuel shortage in Nepal and it has given opportunity to black market for many people.

The main problem has been petrol pump owners selling fuel only to their relatives and people they know. Whenever common people come they say no petrol.

The petrol pumps run by police and army has been awful. They allow people they know , like rich fellows with cars and powerful people to enter through the gates but they don't allow common people in motorbikes to enter for refueling. This has been very tough times for us Nepalese and these corrupt people haven't been helping.

Yeti/Tara Airlines risking people's lives to make more money

We all now know about the tragic accident of Tara airlines that happened a week before on the route from Pokhara to Jomsom. Let me shed a light on all our readers who don't know much about airlines business in Nepal and the way they make dirty money out of it.

Tara Airlines is the sister company of Yeti airlines. They just use a different name to protect them from brand damage and compensation protection should accidents like this happen in its mountain flights. Buddha Air is very well respected and managed. That is why it secured a huge financing from international organization IFC ( International Finance Corporation) to buy buy bigger plans currently operating in Nepal.

Yeti/Tara Air all operate very old planes. They are old as 40/50 years old. Our government discourages operating buses more than 20 years old and yet we have planes flying that are more than 40 years old. They just paint them and make them look like new. That's a lot of corruption to swallow.

The thing is whenever there is an accident the airlines get huge compensation from insurance company. There will be wild drinking party in the owners because they just made millions because of a plane crash. This is the reason why airlines management pressure pilots to fly their planes even during harsh weathers. It's experience and talent on the part of Nepalese pilots that they have managed to prevent such accidents. But like I am saying Kasthamandap Air, Yeti/Tara Air are all disgusting airlines that are trying to make money by risking the lives of people. Lets make them culpable for the lives that we have lost. Let's spread the message.

Boycott Yeti/Tara Air

Time will heal everything

I was once a young guy in school. I used to really like her. By the time I had discovered that she was in a relationship with someone else. I didn't tell about my feelings for anyone. One day I wrote a letter to her that I was in love with her and I am willing to wait. I believed with time she would realize that I was the one for her and it would just happen.

After a few months she left school and moved to a different city. It was very painful at first. But what followed was a series of depression for me. I went into depression for long time. The school and the place reminded me of her. I lost sight of friends, became a lonely person and my personality changed. I became loner and sad and I just couldn't share with anyone how much I was hurting inside. This was the girl I though I loved. She was the one I cared about and meant so much in my small world and now she was gone.

It too me years to move ahead. Finally I moved to a different city and it started helping me get over her. I couldn't like anyone like I liked her. I only saw her face and I assumed everything from my heart. I still couldn't like anyone or be with anyone.

So I decided to get married. We have children now and I love my life. I realize if something doesn't happen its not meant to be. She is only a distant memory now. She means nothing to me. All that matters to me now is my family. I realize that whatever I went through, it helped me become strong and made me the person that I am now.

So friends no matter how much the pain is. Look ahead, look into the horizon and believe that time will change all of it and that no matter how hard the pain eventually you will move on. Life's greatest gift is that we move on.

Natural and Ethical Farming in the Himalayas

I have been thinking for a while of investing in natural and ethical farming in Nepal. I love animals and I have high moral standards. I believe it is wrong what we are doing from a natural, ethical and health point of view.

Look at how our vegetables are grown. Even those that are called natural and organic, they are pouring high amounts of chemicals in the food which is just like pumping steroids in the human body. Of course it does make them big but not healthy. Insecticide and Fertilizers is used widely in vegetables production.

Another thing I find disgusting is the way animals are treated. Have you visited a buffalo farm. Buffaloes are artificially impregnated to make them bear babies. That is so hard for their body and it shortens their life expectancy. Babies are not cared and left to die in the cold. The buffaloes are not suitable for this climate and fed with stored food. Further more they are provided with medicines and anti-biotic to enhance milk production. Such milk is not healthy in any way. The animals are confined but their entire lives. It is the same with poultry. Chickens are packed in small areas for the rest of their lives. They are fed nothing but high protein foods which increase their mass but fails to provide them with all necessary ingredients needed for healthy development of body. As a result their bones are weaker and their immunity is less. To counter that they are given high level of antibiotics which make them even more resistant to medicines. Because they are not allowed to live in natural climate their resistance to nature becomes weak. In the long run it makes them susceptible to diseases and nature.

So I just thought about it for long. Is it right what we are doing. Are we so focused on saving money and enhancing productivity that we are neglecting the concept of quality. Where is quality? Would you call such food healthy? If not then should we not be growing healthy food?

So I have been thinking about starting a commercial project that sells natural and ethical farm foods to people who desire such foods. Obviously prices will be higher but we want to control high prices by focusing on better management principles, labor and capital productivity. We will be opening retail centers in various cities and distributing our farm products through them.

Anyone interested in this project please leave us your comment.

How to improve English easily?

English language is a world wide language. Being able to communicate professionally and fluently in English will give a competitive edge anywhere in the world. So its no surprise many young people and even old people are looking to improve their English language.

Language isn't something you can learn in short space of time with hard work. Its more like behavioral change. It takes time and learning methods are much different.

I give listening to great importance in English. While it is a requisite to know the grammar of English, I do not place so much emphasis on reading. Listening is what will help with your English.

So here is my biggest tips to learning English behaviorally.

1. Watch English movies.
2. Read books in English
3. Watch all TV channels only in English language
4. Listen to news channels in English
5. Watch a lot of you tube with English speaking content
6. Listen to English songs
7. Read English newspapers and magazines
8. Surf internet heavily focusing on English websites with article contents

In two years your English will be so fluent you won't even realize it.

Small help matters

Once an old man was walking along the shore of the beach.

He saw what looked like a young man dancing on the beach. He walked closer and saw that the young man was actually throwing something on the ocean. There were thousands of starfish swept by the ocean waves and were lying on the beach. The young man was actually throwing them back to the ocean trying to save them.

The old man said, " Why you throwing them back and wasting your time? There are thousands of them. It doesn't make any difference what you are doing."

The young man upon hearing this caught a starfish and threw it to the ocean. He looked at the old man and said, "It did make a world of difference to that starfish."

Moral: The point is it is not necessary for us to accomplish bigger things or bigger changes in life. Not all of us will be successful or at a position that can make an enormous difference to nature or human civilization. Point is no matter what small good things we do it matters, may be it won't matter to everyone but it will matter to someone, and that's what's most important.
